The cam cover was sanded, to remove the paintwork on the raised sections and expose the aluminium. |

Used some alternative headlamp brackets to lower the headlamp and indicator slightly - this is the difference as seen from the rear. |

Rewiring the Battery Master Switch |
For some reason the alternator-to-battery lead went all around the engine block, despite a feed from the starter solenoid being about 3" away. I reconnected a spare, short battery cable to the starter solenoid |

...and attached the other end to the alternator. Works a treat and it's much neater. The job is very fiddly done in situ tho! |

More reliable fan-switch |
The Rover thermostatic fan switch gave up after almost exactly 2 years - which is apparently about par for the course. This much more reliable VW item is a straight swap. I bought it direct from Raceline, whose service is superb. |
